Founded in 1997, La Ola Latino-Americana
is a broad-sheet size newspaper based in Indianapolis, Indiana. It is printed
every two weeks with a VERIFIED CIRCULATION OF 12,000 COPIES, which are distributed,
free of charge, in over 235 Hispanic businesses in Indianapolis and its Metropolitan
area.
LA OLA IS THE MOST WIDELY READ BILINGUAL NEWSPAPER IN CENTRAL INDIANA!
No other publication --Hispanic or Anglo-- in Central Indiana reaches as many Hispanic readers as La Ola Latino-Americana!
Hispanics are the fastest growing segment of the US population. According to the US Census Bureau, THEY ALREADY ARE THE LARGEST MINORITY GROUP IN THE US, and it is projected that by the year 2050 Hispanics will make up 25% of the total US population. HispanTeligent (Hispanic Business Magazine, December 2005) estimated the Hispanic buying power to reach $767.75 BILLION in 2006!
Although the last Census figures show a tremendous growth in the Indianapolis Hispanic community (over 245%), unfortunately they DO NOT reflect the truth about this unique ethnic group. The real numbers could very well be five times higher... in our Metropolitan area alone!
It is estimated that nationally --in the Anglo community-- a newspaper is read by an average of three people.
We, at La Ola Latino-Americana believe that in the Hispanic community that number is much higher since families are larger.
